Matthew H. Herlihy (Associate)

Matthew H. Herlihy is an Associate with the Firm. Matthew is an experienced trial attorney and litigator.  As part of Renzulli Law Firm’s national litigation practice, Matthew represents domestic and foreign clients including product manufacturers, importers, distributors, and retailers in litigation involving negligence, strict liability, public nuisance, and matters related to the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act. He also represents clients in regulatory and compliance matters, general commercial litigation and general liability claims.

Prior to joining the Firm, Matthew was an Assistant District Attorney with the Bronx County District Attorney’s Office, specializing in long-term investigations and firearms trafficking interdiction. As part of his duties, Matthew conducted investigations reconstructing and analyzing firearm discharge locations, including extensive work with consulting expert witnesses in bullet trajectory patterns, spent casing distribution and analysis, bullet impact markings, and advanced technological programs related to firearms and ammunition. Further, he also investigated and handled matters concerning alleged unintentional discharges of firearms, as well as incidents related to multi-jurisdictional firearm licensing and permitting.

In addition to firearm related investigations, Matthew also conducted investigations of medical, insurance and prescription fraud, embezzlement, theft, forged government documentation, and investigations of non-profit organizations involved in ongoing professional malpractice and criminal activity.

Matthew has conducted numerous trials to verdict, encompassing areas such as long-term electronic surveillance and wiretapping, scientific expert witness testimony including experts in firearm operability and ballistics analysis, and expert medical witness testimony.

Matthew earned his B.S. from Pace University (Pleasantville, N.Y.), where he majored in Political Science with a minor in English. He attended Pace University School of Law (White Plains, N.Y.) where he earned his J.D.

Matthew is admitted to practice law in the State of New York and the State of New Jersey.
