August 13, 2014:  Yesterday, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland issued significant decisions related to firearms.  Specifically, the Seventh Circuit affirmed a trial court ruling that gun exchange, Armslist, LLC, was not liable for wrongful death claims arising out of the death of a Chicago woman who was murdered by a stalker with a handgun that was listed for sale on its website and illegally sold to the stalker by a private citizen.  A copy of the decision is available here.  In the other decision, U.S. District Judge Catherine Blake upheld the constitutionality of the Firearms Safety Act of 2013 enacted by the State of Maryland.  A copy of Judge Blake’s decision is available here.  Meanwhile, earlier today, Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick signed the new anti-gun bill which was recently passed by the Massachusetts legislature.  A summary of the bill’s provisions and a copy of the bill are available here.
